Drop-In Session (Viaduct Run)

Published: 29 May 2024

In preparation for our Viaduct Run event on July 7th, we will be hosting a Viaduct Run drop-in session at Hafodyrynys RFC on Wednesday the 5th of June, from 4pm-7pm. This will be for everyone to share thoughts, ideas, concerns and questions regarding the event, and will also provide guidance for those looking to get involved in stewarding, volunteering or the awards ceremony at Swffryd Community Centre. Everyone is welcome to drop in for a chat, and free refreshments will be provided. If you are unable to make it in person but would like to help, or if you have any questions, please reach out to us via the Council Offices (clerk@abertilleryandllanhilleth-wcc.gov.uk or 01495 217323) or via our Viaduct Run Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558575843066).

Here are some details about the event:

  • The races are being held on Sunday 7th July. Runners can register for the 5k using this link: https://www.entrycentral.com/event/125060?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR1sSfFeAdVQODDtzN5MvuW9Lc6UAEIoNnt4flO1Sv1G-Dl6kJ1qkXpqzoY_aem_AZKPoJzv3Y85VSDQoGFR7oOzLncURYMrr0xxJD6an0OzcZM_PUF-uraRGZOm6dBtL9bOIy1qLFHjEHuKeNp4JnlQ or on the day from 9:30am.
  • The £5 5k entry fee will be donated to Soffryd Primary School. There will also be a free family friendly race, the route is unconfirmed at the moment.
  • Registration will take place at Hadodyrynys RFC. Attendees can use the council car park here, and this is where the 5k will start from (family run to be confirmed). Registration will be from 9:30am, and the race will start at 10:00am just outside the club.
  • Runners will follow a route along the closed Swffryd Road, down to Royal Oak, back up the Branch and finish at Rectory House. The route is just over 5k.
  • A reception and awards ceremony will then be held at Swffryd Community Centre, following from the success of this at last year’s event. We’re looking into having a summer fair atmosphere with inflatables, stalls and entertainment extending into the evening, but this is unconfirmed at this stage.
  • It is approximately a 13 minute walk from Swffryd Community Centre back to the car park at Hafodyrynys RFC.
